Orthopaedic Surgery is the specialty of medicine that deals with diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, including muscles, limbs, bones, joints, tendons and ligaments. Orthopaedic surgeons treat patients for a range of conditions including fractured bones, torn tendons and ligaments, spastic muscles, congenital skeletal deformities, and bone and joint deformities. These problems can be an outcome of diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis, or arise as the result of injury.
